NVIDIA is upgrading its GeForce NOW cloud gaming platform with new RTX 5080 SuperPOD servers and a feature called “Install-to-Play”. The update boosts performance, expands the library, and arrives just in time for the launch of Borderlands 4.

RTX 5080 SuperPOD: Desktop-Class Power in the Cloud

The RTX 5080 SuperPOD rollout has officially started. Built on NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture, the servers deliver performance that aims to close the gap between local high-end PCs and cloud gaming. The new hardware is only accessible with an Ultimate membership.

Key improvements include:

  • Up to 5K resolution at 120 FPS for ultra-sharp visuals
  • DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation, offering up to 2.8ร— higher frame rates
  • Cinematic Quality Streaming for sharper detail, better contrast, and richer colors
  • 1440p/120 FPS on PCs and Macs, plus 4K/120 Hz on supported devices such as LG TVs and the Steam Deck
  • Lower input latency for smoother performance in competitive shooters and racing titles

Install-to-Play: Instant Access to More Games

The new Install-to-Play option changes how gamers use GeForce NOW. Instead of waiting for NVIDIA to roll out updates on its servers, Ultimate and Performance members can install supported Steam games directly in the cloud.

This update expands the available catalog to over 4,500 titles, including more than 2,200 on Steam. Games that support Install-to-Play are marked with a dedicated badge in the GeForce NOW app, making them easy to spot and launch immediately. (All games on GeForce Now)

Pricing and Availability

The Ultimate membership remains priced at $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year. Access to RTX 5080 SuperPODs will roll out gradually, region by region. A new “RTX 5080 Ready” row in the GeForce NOW app highlights games optimized for the upgraded servers.

The Performance membership is priced at $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year and includes Install-to-Play as well as up to 1440p resolution and 60 FPS.

Borderlands 4 Joins the Lineup

The timing of the rollout coincides with the launch of Borderlands 4, arriving September 11 on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The sequel introduces four new Vault Hunters, expanded movement options like double jumps and grappling hooks, and an overhauled loot system.

As part of a limited-time offer, players who sign up for a 12-month GeForce NOW Ultimate membership before September 25 will receive Borderlands 4 at no extra cost.
